This is more than a golf book. It is a book about golf, but it is also a book

about life. We had several purposes in preparing this material. It is divided

into four sections, each of which was included for specific reasons.2

In section I, " Golf and the Game of Life," we use golf in an analogy with

life. This is in accord with biblical writings, which frequently made reference

to the games and contests of the times as illustrations of life.

The first chapter, entitled "All the World s a Fairway," is introductory to all

that follows. Several items are mentioned here that will be described in more

detail in later chapters.
