You have an assignment: to write a script. It
may be for a corporation, a hospital, a school, a
government agency, or any other sort of organiza-
tion. What are you supposed to do? Where do you
begin? What do you do next? What do other people
expect of you? How can you tell if your script is
good?
When I took on my first such assignment, I, quite
frankly, didn t know. And I didn t know anyone
to ask. When I finally found some people to answer
some things, I discovered that there was no single
place to find all I needed to know to do my job well.
So, I learned the roundabout way, but I did find
answers. I learned by trial and error, by talking
with other writers, by reading everything about
scriptwriting I could find, and by DOING, day in
and day out, for years. This book shares those
discoveries.
This book is not going to guarantee that you will
produce magnificent scripts. That must come from
you, from your talents, your dedication and your
hard work.
