In Part 1， he considers many vital issues one should be aware of before taking cardiovascular medications， including the doctor-patient relationship， common coronary illnesses， diagnostic tests， and the limitations of drug therapy. In Part 2， Goldman has compiled a compendium of over 90 heart drugs， including the following therapeutic classes: diuretics， beta blockers， calcium channel blockers， vasodilators， potassium supple ments， antiarrhythmics， blood-related drugs， and antihyperlipidemics. Individual entries describe the drug's purpose， mechanism of action， dosage， side effects， adverse reactions， and drug interactions.
