From Library Journal Companion volume to the author's long-standard text, Getting into Film (1977; Ballantine, 1986. pap.) , this book exhaustively covers all the possibilities for careers in video, from cable and broadcast TV to independent and "artistic" production, from industrial to government work, and from public relations and advertising to weddings. Although there's scant information on getting into, or around, the still dominant unions, London's advice is down to earth and calmly optimistic (especially in the "Getting a Job" section). Much of the information is relayed in interviews with successful workers in the various fields. Other sections include festivals, awards, schools, and a useful bibliography. --David Bartholomew, NYPLCopyright 1990 Reed Business Information, Inc.
