From Library Journal From the editors of Medical Self-Care magazine comes this book that reads like a de-politicized version of Our Bodies, Ourselves. The work is dedicated to the idea that women are their own best healers; yet many of the tests and treatments described must be administered by professionals. Discussions of specific problems in areas of reproductive health, weight, exercise, and allergies are responsible and concise. There is a good discussion of cosmetics, with name-brand suggestions. In addition, updated information on AIDS and surrogacy is presented. However, the book lacks material on women and therapy, battering, food additives, and occupational health that The New Our Bodies , Ourselves ( LJ 3/15/85) contains. As a supplement but not a replacement for the Boston Women's Health Collective's classic, for most libraries. Beverly Miller, Boise State Univ.
