本书大部分笔墨花在了文学评论上面，但是其实内容十分丰富，展示了法律与文学这一研究领域的广泛性，而作者认为其中最有研究意义的是法律对文学的规制。并且，作者信手拈来地运用了许多经济学理论来分析问题，以证明“法律与文学”及“法律与经济学”并不是水火不容的两个领域。
