Duncan Pritchard is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of California, Irvine, and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. His books include Epistemic Luck (OUP, 2005), Epistemological Disjunctivism (OUP, 2012), The Nature and Value of Knowledge (OUP 2010), co-authored with Alan Millar, Adrian Haddock, and Epistemic Angst (Princeton UP, 2015). In 2007 he was awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize, and, in 2011, he was elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Pritchard also examines the philosophical arguments for a radical form of scepticism which maintains that knowledge is impossible, and explores some of the main responses to these arguments. Finally, he considers the part scepticism might play in applying better thinking and learning to achieve a more meaningful life.

非常小非常薄的一本书。Further Reading非常有用，把主要的且重要的要读的文献十分集中地列了出来。大量提及SEP和IEP条目使得获取细分主题的更多信息变得更便利。这本书虽然几乎没有任何新的东西(综述为主。作者自己对维特根斯坦On Certainty的理解应该算是新的思想。除此之外就几乎没有了)，倒是极具整合性和综合性，行文紧凑，提及并略述了到了众多主题(比如Virtue Epistemology, Applied Epistemology)，用语(句子)非常简洁明了，不存在任何阅读上的障碍。总之，这本小书是了解Scepticism的本质、历史及回应的有用的工具！
