派翠西亚・康薇尔于1956年出生在美国佛罗里达州的迈阿密，是美国当红的犯罪小说大师。她的职业生涯从主跑社会新闻的记者开始，1984年她在弗吉尼亚洲的法医部门工作。1984年至1986年间，康薇尔根据自身的法医工作经验写下了3本小说，并且一炮而红，先后获得过有伦玻奖、克雷西奖、安东尼奖及法国的Prix du Roman d'Aventure奖。此后，康薇尔以女法医为背景陆续写了9本书，这些作品不仅是畅销排行榜上的常客，也被翻译成多种语言。

康薇尔精于调查真实的犯罪案件，追查真相到了痴迷的状态。她自掏腰包600万美元调查百年历史悬案“开膛手杰克”，并将调查结果写成《开膛手杰克结案报告》，声称已经找到了世纪悬案的确凿证据。

康薇尔目前分别居住在弗吉尼亚洲里奇蒙和纽约两地，并且自组公司、设立个人网站处理她的创作事业。
