Walzer defends the trial and execution of Louis XVI as necessary, since it not only tried to destroy the monarchy's mystique and divine right, but also required the deputies to fully explain their guiding philosophies and applied the rules of judicial process to establish equality before the law. New to this edition is an appendix containing "Revolutionary Justice," Ferenc Feher's classic rebuttal to Walzer's thesis, and Walzer's response, "The King's Trial and the Political Culture of the Revolution."

還不錯，寫學年論文時用過。作者的立場是把路易十六審判與紐倫堡審判相類比。而且重申瞭吉倫特觀點的革命性：公民路易。而且後麵的附錄非常實用。國王之死的政治思想史分析。

Walzer的立場是認為處死路易十六是正義的，而且與隨後的雅各賓恐怖並無關聯。這裏麵對於吉倫特派和雅各賓派就審判路易十六的立場都做瞭詳細的梳理，也沒有局限於階級分析的立場做過多的分析。可以補充相關的背景知識。
