YA An understanding of Biblical events depends on at least a cursory understanding of archaeology and of religious scholarship. This addition to the library shelves provides clear explanations of current interpretations of events ranging from the Flood to Exodus to Jericho to Solomon to the Sermon on the Mount and on to include Paul's conversion and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Each topic receives a generous two-page spread, carefully laid out to make maximum use of computer graphics, photographs, and reproductions to tie the various threads of interpretation together. Few would suggest this title to be comprehensive, but it certainly provides beginning students of Biblical interpretation with a well-designed starting point. Browsers may also enjoy the book for simply esthetic reasons, and students of ancient history will also find research answers here, thanks to the detailed index and bibliography.
