In the 1990s the United Nations enjoyed a revival of prestige, particularly within the United States. At the same time, the role of the UN and the nature of its achievements are changing dramatically. Internationalists note that the world's nations are becoming increasingly interdependent and are relying more and more on international organizations for economic and social services.
