I'm reluctant to say we owned them, because I truly believe they owned us. In their own way, they let us know what we did right and what needed attention. They were quick to forgive us when we made a mistake and continued on as if nothing ever happened. Their unqualified love and devotion was unsurpassed. They couldn't smile or talk, but their tail said volumes.
