Off with His Head is a detective novel by Ngaio Marsh; it is the nineteenth novel to feature Roderick Alleyn, and was first published in 1957. The plot concerns a village festival in the English countryside, and features Morris dancing among other folkloric elements. The novel was published as Death of a Fool in the United States, a reference to the fact that the murder victim is playing a Fool in the festival.

The novel is classed as a locked room mystery.

感谢民翻，怪奇的民俗和不可能犯罪相结合一向是我很接受的题材。本书的话气氛和节奏把握的都不错，看完后细细想来，诡计还真挺合理的。就是这种形式的伏笔流我自己不太喜欢，读解答篇的时候觉得不太舒畅。

多一星感谢辛苦民翻。就故事来讲，从情节与故事动机来看都不是很迷人…当时看到饼大婶雨中敲大宅门还以为是暴风雨山庄类型心里一喜…然后就是各种饼婶的聒噪喧哗与铁匠家智障儿子的病态描写…看得特别……烦躁——谁关心这样一大帮粗鄙的人会怎样嘛。【以下剧透】好吧那就只关心诡计好了，作者这个想法挺好，看时只想到和那个马有关系，肯定马里发生什么事，后面那个马里的人在后台坐着不动，就想里面是不是受害者的脑袋什么的——没想到是饼婶先进马里，受害者自己钻进去的。不过这么大动静，周围人都没感觉到，太不真实了——这个诡计不是难猜，而是目击者没一个发现异常，都说一切正常，而且中间有一段受害者不在坑内，又不是大深坑，一个人都没注意坑里空了？把观众都写成瞎子的诡计也不是什么优质诡计。而且还没示意图，光弄明白现场就费半天劲。

谜面值那么个三星吧，解答，呵呵总体也就比crooked hinge好那么一点, 是不是广义不可能犯罪都这么狗逼??
