书的长处是没有故作高深，写的简洁明了，前面很体贴地专门开了一章介绍柏拉图到阿诺德的人文主义传统，是不错的入门读物。 然而，文学理论入门级的读物，除非是Jonathan Culler这样的大家来做，敢拆破藩篱，打通了写，其他的大都是从新批评到结构解构后殖民等等一个一个中规中...
