A fascinating and rigorous guide to deciphering Hindu symbolism, this book will help you understand and appreciate religious art in India. Despite its scholarly paraphernalia and language, the book (whose title translates as "seeing") is tremendously useful for the traveler. It's an eye-opening book for the intellectually curious. 语言非常易懂，讲了很多仪式在建造佛像或者寺庙的过程和意义，包括说到了monotheism, 多个神并没有减少每个神的意义。 Eck这本书写的非常紧凑易懂，一共就100页左右。主要讲了印度去看佛像也是被佛像注视，也就是被神注视。还讲了一些佛像的仪式为了把神请到佛像里。还有iconoclast，与西方完全不一样，毁灭重造也是传统的一部分。说到了像我们这种没有知识的人，需要学习印度的文化知识才能理解佛像。
