【作者简介】

[美] 费利克斯•吉尔伯特（Felix Gilbert，1905—1991）

20世纪享誉美国的著名历史学家，美国历史学会首位终身成就奖获得者，位于华盛顿的德国历史研究所的主阅览室正是以他的名字命名。吉尔伯特年轻时就读于柏林大学，师从“一战”后德国最受瞩目的历史学家弗里德里希•迈内克，主要研究文艺复兴时期的欧洲历史，尤其擅长研究欧洲外交。他长期在普林斯顿大学高等研究院担任教职，退休后成为普林斯顿大学历史研究院的荣誉教授。1991年，他因葛雷克氏症病逝于家中。

费利克斯•吉尔伯特一生著有数十本著作，代表作《华盛顿的告别演讲：美国早期外交思想》曾荣获“班克罗夫特”奖。

[美] 大卫•克莱•拉奇（David Clay Large）

旧金山大学弗洛姆研究所教授、加州大学伯克利分校欧洲研究所高级研究员，曾任耶鲁大学皮尔森学院院长。他是现代欧洲史方面的专家学者，尤其擅长研究德国史和奥地利史。
