質量沒得說，基本涵蓋瞭所有已知類群，書的前半部分以插圖為主，細緻地描繪瞭不同物種之間的差異而，書的後半部分，以文字記述為主，包括瞭該物種的分布和習性等。缺點在於太過厚重瞭，如果這本書可以分成兩部分，前半部分為純圖鑒，也輕便些，方便齣野外，那就更好瞭。
