我是现在才读，如果中学读他肯定觉得惊为天人。这本书有Russell一如既往的锐利心智和优美文笔。友人跟我说他talk about Math而不Do Math被其他数学家鄙视，但我更多的是感激北极星般璀璨的他居然愿意弯下腰来为普罗大众写点东西。这点东西，写作，结构，内容，都非常好；我试图透过他的笔尖瞥向一个更高，我也永远无法达到的哲学境界。

出乎我的料想，罗素这本才100多页的《the problems of philosophy》竟然耗去了我整整一个月的时间才读完。一方面是因为他灿烂的文笔，我想慢慢咀嚼，另一方面也是因为罗素对论证的追求，有些地方让我吃不消。显然，罗素不愿在这部书里给出太多明确的答案，但也正如他在最后一章所言，这种不确定性是培养一种great而free的心灵所必须的，也是科学勃兴之后，哲学独特的价值所在吧。
