People and businesses make decisions that impact the environment, including whether to pollute, consume scarce resources, create and market dysfunctional byproducts, and expose workers to hazardous substances. As a consequence many of earth's systems have already been devastated. Understanding the psychological determinants of environmental behavior may be the key to saving the earth for future generations, yet this issue has not received adequate attention in the past. This book brings together the research of leading psychologists to examine the neglected subject of the psychological factors that influence environmental decisions.
