By combining the discipline of literary criticism with the hermeneutics of feminism, she reinterprets the tragic stories of four women in ancient Israel: Hagar, Tamar, an unnamed concubine, and the daughter of Jephthah. In highlighting the silence, absence, and oppostition of God, as well as human cruelty, Trible shows how these neglected stories-interpreted in memoriam-challenge both the misogyny of Scripture and its use in church, synagogue, and academy.

評分還是三星半。God and Rhetoric一書被迫標瞭四星，這本就三星，均衡瞭。四章中，第一章最好，優點和弱點一樣明顯。二、四章均不夠精彩。Trible常用的分析方法，漏洞很多，跳躍性太大。但整體的關懷閤理，看第三章可知。
評分Trible is a good exegete--she gives wonderful insights on the Hebrew syntax.
