Organized to reflect the different perspectives of the global response to HIV/AIDS and the role of the different global institutions involved, Franklyn Lisk critically reviews key issues in the global response to HIV/AIDS. He identifies and analyzes emerging issues in the global HIV/AIDS response and the potential and prospect of global institutions in addressing these issues. In developing this argument, Lisk covers: [Power] relationships and tensions between the global North and the global South; International and regional partnerships between donors and affected countries and implications for national response; Governance of global institutions and impact on capacities to respond effectively to the epidemic at country and regional levels; and, HIV/AIDS as an obstacle to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
