Second book in the Madison series, featuring a young cat whose adopted family is a church congregation into whose arms she was literally shot (from an organ pipe) in book 1. In this second book in the series, Madison is now settled into Minister Paul's house, and she always attends church, where she is a welcome figure. Reflecting on her good fortune, she thinks about how Minister Paul has spoken about helping the unfortunate. As she does so, Madison is confronted with a battle between her instincts and her sense of right and wrong, when she has the opportunity to help a fly escape from a spider's web. In ultimately doing the right thing, she is unaware of how good deeds often have bigger, even better, unforeseen consequences. Her small good deed causes a series of events that have a positive impact on a child in the neighborhood, to the delight of Madison's congregation.
