上下冊結構閤理，內容豐富，作者梵文功底深厚，對印度曆史整體把握嫻熟，信息量大，尤其是故事量比較大，但讀起來反而瑣碎。各個時段的階段性特徵不突齣，變化的綫索，原因，承襲都不清晰，淹沒在大量記述甚至是細節描述中。古代史上冊孔雀王朝後各大帝國時期和混亂時期碎片化...

內容有點厚今薄古，結構上沒有赫爾曼·庫爾剋的那本《印度史》平衡，近代筆墨較多，莫臥兒之前則比較單薄。 兩個譯者閤譯，翻譯準確度還可以，但第一個譯者的譯本不夠通暢，第二個譯者現代部分翻譯的較好。總體讀起來沒有赫爾曼那本譯的好。 如果隻選一本的話，還是推薦看赫...
