有趣易读，即使是长篇段落都充满了诗歌的韵味。全书当然是“演义”。前1/3非常惊艳，一连串的短句把史前不列颠诸王刻画得栩栩如生（真是荷马般的天赋！）。后半截稍显乏味，但是聚焦在了绵长的昂格鲁-萨克森人入侵，高光是亚瑟王的反击，最后收束到阿瑟尔斯坦身上，颇有一种三国演义的风范：浪花淘尽英雄，终究三家归晋。梅林的出场昙花一现，亚瑟王仿佛是模仿马可·奥勒留而作。后期基督教成为全书的精神支柱，让原本英武的王室后裔变得争权夺势，最后竟然因为天使预言而离开不列颠，仿佛在阅读《百年孤独》的后半本。想来喜欢前半本，也是喜欢那种天真烂漫的勇气与鲁莽。8.8。
