先看师承，Michael Putnam的学生，所以基本结论可以预期。号称是首部系统研究这个话题的著作，但是悲剧和史诗之间真实的触碰点、确认过的借鉴、篇幅较长的allusions，其实很有限。作者有时依赖非常零碎的字句间的相似，但严格说，构不成确凿的allusion。而实实在在的、可以坐实的allusions，基本上都是别人已经发现过的，作者自己在材料上没有新发现。大谈ritual什么的，基本是花架子。这个题目，写两三篇论文就够了，现在硬凑出一本书。作者还认为tragic intertext基本上颠覆homeric intertext，所以等于挑了一个希腊悲剧和仪式的角度，把导师30多年前的结论，重说了一遍。我觉得这书不够在剑桥出版的资格，应该在Michigan这一级别的出版社。
