In this profusely illustrated tale, a decrepit general has lost his war and tries unsuccessfully to find it. He asks everyone he meets whether they have seen it, and explains why it's so important that he find the war, but no one understands. Then he runs into an admiral with whom he shares his sorrows and who understands him perfectly. This ironic fable poses the question "What would happen if someone looking for a war couldn't find anyone to fight against?"
