Workers' remittances, a major source of financing for developing countries, are especially important in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), ranked at the top of remittance-receiving regions. Because of the variation in migration and remittances patterns across countries and regions and because existing evidence for LAC is often restricted to a few countries, the development impact and policy implications of remittances are likely to differ in ways still largely unknown. This book explores some of the main questions faced by policy makers when trying to respond to increasing remittances flows in the specific context of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
