具体描述

Fifty years after its founding, the United Nations is undergoing a process of renewal. As the principal international players seek to define a new world order, they are also trying to transform the UN. But the UN is largely their creation and its shortcomings can be traced to their own attitude towards the Organization. Votes in the UN General Assembly describes the workings of the international community's most representative forum over the past five decades. It chronicles the behavior of States through their participation in the debates on, and the search for solutions to, the crucial problems facing humanity. The book also offers the first detailed analysis of how countries vote in the Assembly. This ground-breaking study will serve to understand better the UN's past as the organization looks to the future.
