福斯特的第一部長篇，輕喜劇的劇情和人物，處理的卻是重大的人生和文化課題，體現於其間的價值觀既結實又微妙，稍有不慎就會有失去掌控，造成政治和情感“不正確”的危險。跡近完美的debut。 馬愛農的翻譯可圈可點，遣詞造句與原文的風格絲絲入扣。Great job!

撒狗血撒狗血撒狗血啦~~Gino的形象比Phillip鮮明。但Phillip心裏對意大利的美麗之熱愛倒是十分能夠理解，的確有著能夠改變人前進方嚮的力量。感覺這句說的最實在？'It may be full of beautiful pictures and churches, but we cannot judge a country by anything but its men.'
