Shadows of the Wind consists of fourteen fictional stories, all written from a viewpoint as seen through the rearview mirror of life, depicting the many roads traveled by all with a common beginning, that beginning being childhood spent all, or partly, on the Canadian prairies. The roads here depicted lead to many different places in the world with no two scenarios alike, the outcome of life's journey different in all cases. These stories show life as it really is, not the rose-colored glasses variety that most of is would prefer it to be. The common threads woven into these stories are the cherished childhood memories that are reawakened in the mind of the reader; memories of a time when life was far less complicated that it is today; expectations as seen in present day society were at a much lower level, and simple pleasures of everyday living were greatly appreciated. The book exhibits poignancy in the narration and is written in a manner that will invoke a powerful emotional response on the part of anyone who reads it. This work will be read again and again by anyone with fond memories of those dim trails of yesteryear. The pathways of life may sometimes may sometimes wander into unplanned territory, unfolding contrary to the best laid plans, however, the days of childhood, as seen in retrospect, may be a welcome haven to return to, if only in the mind.
