英语世界唯一一本曹操传记，按照年代线性展开，写作详细平实，古意稍欠，如“Province”与“州”以及“City”与“城”并不能简单对应。Brill的校对亦有问题，请仔细查阅——作者张磊夫本身也是研究后汉三国问题的专家，推荐《Generals of the South: The Foundation And Early History Of The Three Kingdoms State Of Wu》以及《Northern Fontier : the Policies and Strategy of the Later Han Empire》
