John Ray Grisham, Jr. (born February 8, 1955)[1] is an American author, best known for his popular legal thrillers.
John Grisham graduated from Mississippi State University before attending the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1981 and practiced criminal law for about a decade. He also served in the House of Representatives in Mississippi from January 1984 to September 1990.[2] Beginning writing in 1984, he had his first novel A Time To Kill published in June 1989. As of 2008, his books had sold over 250 million copies worldwide.[3] A Galaxy British Book Awards winner, Grisham is one of only three authors to sell two million copies on a first printing, the others being Tom Clancy and J. K. Rowling.[4]
Grisham's first best seller was The Firm. Released in 1991, it sold more than seven million copies.[1] The book was adapted as a feature film. In addition, seven more of his novels: The Chamber, The Client, A Painted House, The Pelican Brief, The Rainmaker, The Runaway Jury, and A Time to Kill, were adapted as movies. His books have been translated into 29 languages and published worldwide.[5] His other best-selling books include The Testament, The Summons and The Broker.[6]
Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer or Theodore Boone: Young Lawyer (UK) is a 2010 legal thriller and the first novel by John Grisham for 8-12 year olds[1] although not the first story to involve a minor protagonist. It is projected as being the first in a series about Theo the lawyer. Grisham jokingly said in an interview that he wanted to catch up with Harry Potter since his number one place was taken in the bestsellers.
Strattenburg's biggest criminal trial for a long time drew a lot of attention and the township largely suspected the defendant was guilty. He was charged with murdering his wife but the problem for the prosecutor was lack of direct evidence. Indeed it seemed almost the perfect murder. Things were going so well for Mr Duffy the defendant that he was almost confident of acquittal. The protagonist is the last chance for the prosecution to salvage their case and likely to get the conviction.?
Young Theodore Boone grew up an only child with two lawyers as parents. The husband and wife team make up the firm of Boone & Boone and have raised a kid who is extremely savvy with the law, good with people, and knows most of the legal sector in the town. He is on speaking-terms with the criminal judge and has a reputation amongst his classmates for solving day to day legal problems, like rescuing a dog from the pound via Animal Court, to impress a fellow 8th-grader girl.
Theodore facilitates the last-minute admission of evidence by persuading the judge well enough to declare a mistrial. He was the only person in such a position and with the guts to do so and just a 13 year-old kid.
