She is the author of several works of fiction, including The Book of Words (2007) and Visitation (2010), both translated by Susan Bernofsky and published by New Directions. The End of Days won the prestigious Hans Fallada Prize in 2014. Also an opera director, she currently lives in Berlin.

中文大概可以叫《过客》？围绕湖边一处房产几十年来的数位过客折射德国历史，有些篇目可以当独立的短篇小说看。不通德语不晓得原文文风如何，但译文挺绕口的好多长句，不适合朗读。时而感觉私密又疏离。两小无猜那个故事里有段心路历程的转变写得挺好：缝隙产生的时候，人就蜕变、分化了，关系陡然变色；从前去你家等你吃完早饭一起玩，如今我看自己倒像个仆人，像道菜把自己呈上去，夫人，您要吃我吗？两栖动物一个选择陆生，一个选择水生。童年啊。
