英文极浅白，和布罗茨基的难懂成一对比。起笔随意、散文化，慢慢地到下半部分点出诗眼，又往往令人惊艳。一位自传性很强的作者，集中几篇写他父亲的记录了老年痴呆症加重的过程，非常感人。但是对自身以外的事物关注不够，取材不广，所以貌似后劲不太足，第三部分比前两部分略弱。
