为了达到Vivie出走，实现独立的目的，Vivie对Mrs Warren实在过于残忍，抛开母女之情，否定作为母亲为她所做的一切，有点偏离人之常情。Vivie与Mrs Warren脱离母女关系，更多是因为对自己经济独立，想成为有价值的人的一个追求。而Mrs Warren的尴尬职业刚好提供了一个契机，实现她的远走高飞。个人感觉人物心理变化突兀，角色勾勒不够立体。可能作者为了达到抨击资本主义社会对女性的剥夺和压榨，女性的走投无路，以及上流社会的虚伪做作的目的，用力有些过猛。反映了萧伯纳自己的理念，只有深刻揭露社会的黑暗面才能引起社会变革。
