一本非常好的书，混凝土作为媒介的社会史，透过混凝土讨论了很多文化转向的内容，这也是Adrian forty擅长的历史写作路数。十个章节从不同角度写作了作为媒介的混凝土，譬如反映不同时期对混凝土的不同认知和使用方式，和为何变化背后的社会，技术和经济原因，也有章节把混凝土作为技术概念下现代化过程的表征，反映政治经济的变化。总之是一本特别值得看的精彩著作，另外他写作干净易懂，不爱掉书袋，随便看看都值得。

果真是研究什么的人都有.....Forty首先是个建筑史学家他写到一半的时候似乎突然读到了类似We have never been mordern之类的书然后就懵逼了。我意思是他很多概念比如mordenity 从未被解释而他似乎也一直在不同可能性之间摇摆。另外混凝土建筑大多数实在是真·“丑”。
