梁文道介紹這本書是這麼說的，作者不是一個專業的科學傢，但他是一個專業的作傢。這其實就說得很明白瞭。乍聽上去像是贊揚的話，隻要你看過這本書，你就知道這並不完全是贊譽。作者是著名的雜誌記者，也齣過書。但記者嘛——畢竟還是記者，和專業的醫生或者理科生不一樣。不一...

畢竟作者不是專業人士，而僅僅是個記者，因此可以學到的醫學知識不多，不能算是科普書籍。內容有點接近流水賬，從發現傳染病的過程，到一些進展。但是最後大部分都是未解之謎。有些拖遝。看完SARS就看不下去瞭。。。。隻能看著玩兒。

看瞭SARS那章，纔發現這個譯者有多不走心，時代周刊亞洲版翻譯成亞洲時代是什麼鬼…是頭一次乾翻譯嗎？另外提到的幾個病毒學傢根本查不到信息。我查瞭當年資料纔把“關熠”和袁國勇對上號…中國翻譯翻譯中國人名字多查兩下弄對很難嗎？懷疑譯者的工作態度。不過書還是很有趣的...

很好看並具有一定知識性的書。作為一個搞生物的並不覺得有什麼特彆違和的地方。這本書讓廣泛的讀者群體注意到瞭人與動物交叉感染的嚴峻性，以及其後暗示的環境問題，是很有意義的。文筆好，可讀性強，引人入勝。至於專業知識是不是精確到毫，我個人並不特彆在意。畢竟讓大多數人對某件事産生興趣，並不是科學傢的專長。要求具有趣味性的同時還得在科學上一絲不苟，未免吹毛求疵。

正應時的一本書。可是身處疫情之中心浮氣躁，大概花瞭個把多月纔看完。覺得寫的很好，不枯燥但基本概念講的還蠻清楚。有些黑色幽默。隻是感慨，書中（2012年齣版）流行病學傢幾乎都肯定The next big one（下一個大傳染病）會在不遠的將來發生，然而當它確實發生瞭，人類還是這麼準備不足啊。書裏麵提瞭三類比較可能大爆發的病毒，黏液病毒（流感類），逆轉錄病毒（艾滋），冠狀病毒（SARS），可不就是來瞭麼。
