作为临床心理学的百科全书，读者能轻易到从这近千页的内容中找到自己感兴趣的部分。历史、政策、研究方法、评估、学校心理治疗、临床实践、职业道德、公共卫生、面谈与个案、诊断手册、各类精神疾患介绍、科技影响与应用、司法应用、临床神经心理学、在各种场合使用的各种干预方法、行为形成与危机、婚姻家庭疗法、为性取向不同的人群提供心理健康服务、为存在文化差异性的群体提供心理健康服务等等。说实话，内容太多，我自己都只是选取了几章感兴趣的进行阅读，感觉还不错，尤其是科技影响与应用的那章最是有趣。说一下缺点：一是那些介绍各类疾患的信息有些过于基础，基本上没有什么深度，这也许对初学者有好处，但对内行则有点鸡肋感；二是本书出版于2011年，早于2013年出版的DSM5，这样一来有些信息可能会有过时之嫌，还需要读其它书。

总结下教授对这本的评价就是：One of the best guidance books for psychological counselors；one of the worst textbooks for psychology students（“同学们瞧瞧，连插图都没有一张呢！”）。内容多到让外行头皮发麻。
