从霍布斯－洛克一路到伯克－边沁最后到独立宣言，对于国际政治思想研究的主题不断深化，不管是对于洛克与帝国主义之间关系的阐释，还是伯克对法国大革命以及边沁对美国独立战争的批评都相当有意思，突然发现这本书的推荐语还是波考克给写的，估计是剑桥学派的语境下写的这本书。

相比斯金纳的方法论探讨，这本书除了将语境研究推向国际层面之外，方法上没有特别大的推进。作者在序言中指出，他希望摆脱后来接受史对思想家形象的层累效应，理解这些原始作家的基本形象，但是用外围文本填补时间罅隙，却忽视了核心文本的内在架构，时间叠合无法建立关切一致。不过，这部作品依然包含了相当多饶有趣味的考证和分析，问题意识也很清晰。全球视野的建立，或许能够为理解政治打开新的空间。

重新读了导言和霍布斯一章。一个霍布斯的国际思想如何被后人made to be的语境叙事。在这个并不十分漫长的过程中，霍布斯的政治理论引发了自然法与实证主义、一元论与多元论，政治思想与国际思想的一系列争论，解开了他如何成为现代国际思想之父的谜团。只是文章结尾处，当历史的舞台转换到了后现代，争锋相对的后续剧本们便连同它们的灵魂人物霍布斯一并被作者陈列入了国际思想史中。好像他们如同活化石般只能供人研究，再也骚不动了。这样的结论也有点早了吧？？？
