About the Author

Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1900-1944) was born in Lyons, France. A year after the publication of The Little Prince, Saint-Exupery disappeared over the Mediterranean while flying a reconnaissance mission for his French air squadron. Best known throughout the world as the author and illustrator of The Little Prince, Saint-Exupery wrote several other books that also have become classics of world literature.

The translator, Richard Howard, is the author of eleven books of poetry, including Untitled Subjects, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1970, and most recently, Trappings. He is the translator of more than 150 works from the French, including The Charterhouse of Parma. In 1984 he received the American Book Award for his translation of Charles Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal. Mr. Howard lives in New York City.

安托万·德·圣埃克苏佩里（Antoine de Saint-Exupery, 1900-1944）1900年6月29日出生在法国里昂。他曾经有志于报考海军学院，未能如愿，却有幸成了空军的一员。1923年退役后，先后从事过各种不同的职业。

1926年，圣埃克苏佩里进入拉泰科埃尔航空公司。在此期间，出版小说《南方邮件》（1929）、《夜航》（1931），从此他在文学上声誉鹊起。1939年，又一部作品《人的大地》问世。

第二次世界大战期间他重入法国空军。后辗转去纽约开始流亡生活。在这期间，写出《空军飞行员》、《给一个人质的信》、《小王子》（1943）等作品。1944年返回同盟国地中海空军部队。在当年7月31日的一次飞行任务中，他驾驶飞机飞上湛蓝的天空，就此再也没有回来。

我很不理解，本书并没有新鲜的道理，为啥被大家捧得跟神物一样？

好喜欢这个译本！

背单词打卡一个月攒下来的扇贝币刚够买一本薄薄的《小王子》。以前只记住了些关于爱情的隐喻，一些漂亮的温柔的句子，没看到书里的讽刺、悲伤和无奈。小王子离开的时候说，it is too far, I cannot carry this body with me, it is too heavy.

终于明白了为什么这么多人爱小王子，成人其实比孩子更容易被这本书打动。
