威廉•特雷弗，愛爾蘭當代文學大師，被《紐約客》稱為“當代英語世界最偉大的短篇小說傢”。他於1928年生於愛爾蘭科剋郡米切爾斯敦一個中産階級新教傢庭，在外省度過瞭童年時代，後到都柏林大學聖三一學院曆史係求學。他先後做過雕塑傢、教師、廣告公司文案。從1954年起，他和妻子移居英國。

Like the few other Trevor's stories I have read this one is also sad. Yet it is beautiful and attractive. After reading Trevor you would feel life is still beautiful and worth living when things are bad just because your life can well be a Trevor story.

這本書是我今年我讀過的書中拖延最長時間的。小說並不長，真正讀完所需要的時間不到四小時。主要的拖延來自於小說前麵的一百頁，一部小說被作者寫成意識流，到處都是心理描寫。前麵的慢熱很容易讓人失去閱讀興趣。幸運地是，這本書是爬爬推薦的，所以它一直被自己放在微信讀...
