Jack London was an American novelist, journalist, social-activist and short-story writer whose works deal romantically with elemental struggles for survival. At his peak, he was the highest paid and the most popular of all living writers. Because of early financial difficulties, he was largely self educated past grammar school.London drew heavily on his life experiences in his writing. He spent time in the Klondike during the Gold Rush and at various times was an oyster pirate, a seaman, a sealer, and a hobo. His first work was published in 1898. 布克 被家丁賣給了去北部淘金的人，從此開始了他的災難，差點死掉的他被约翰·宋顿救了，從此忠于他，跟隨主人一起去尋找那座小屋。最終找到小屋卻被蠻荒之人用弓箭射殺，在此期間布克內心的野性也已經被喚醒了，他不斷追隨自己的內心，唯一的留戀就是约翰·宋顿，宋死后他隨狼群而去..每年都會回到宋死去的地方仰天長嚎..

读后感

小时候就着昏黄的灯光，如饥似渴地读完。不过是0.3元薄薄的小书，承载着我对于少年时代无限的追忆和留恋。荒野的呼唤，是the call of the wild的最好翻译  

到底是写一个新的狼种的发现，还是写一直狗狗被逼成了狼呢。Buck不是说自己的爸爸妈妈都是狗狗吗？一个是。。。。一个是sheperd。。。。那怎么会是狼呢。。。不理解。如果是狗狗被逼成了狼，那也太恐怖了吧。。。。

巴克本是条好狗。 在日复一日的平淡，不曾忍饥挨饿受虐待之前，巴克一直都是如此。它是条被驯养的狗，接受了文明人的教化、洗礼，融入了文明社会。 只是突然有一天，一切都变了，没有任何征兆，也没有什么人看到，管家便把它带走了。管家因赌博输了很多钱，把巴克给卖了。 ...
