考琳·麦卡洛（Colleen McCullough, 1937- ），澳大利亚当代女作家。1977年，她以自己全部的生活积累，创作出版了呕心沥血之作《荆棘鸟》。作品一出版便引起轰动，不但拍成电影广为流传，而且翻译成二十多种文字在世界各地出版，成为当代世界最畅销的小说之一。除《荆棘鸟》外，麦卡洛还创作十二部长篇小说，一部传记。她与丈夫居住在澳大利亚南太平洋的诺福克岛。

Colleen McCullough was born in Wellington, New South Wales, working in hospitals in Sydney and London before moving to the Yale University Medical School to train as a nurse. There she wrote the phenomenal bestseller THE THORN BIRDS.

看这本书是三、四年前的事了，记得当时自己像着了迷似的看，好喜欢里面场景的描写和主人公的爱情故事，优美缠绵却又注定般的感情纠葛。直到现在还是心动  

最近想入手一本1983年漓江出版社出版，由晓明、陈明锦译，李小棠校的《荆棘鸟》，一是因为这是最早的中译本；二是因为该书市面上已经见不到了（猜想是因为没有买下该书版权的缘故），三是看评价，不少人都觉得翻译得不错，甚至被认为是最好的译本。我先下载了电子版的看了看，...
