不是太空歌剧，胜似太空歌剧。一开始的格局仅限于沙漠化的地球，结果谁料想到后面会展开至整个银河系乃至宇宙的彼端。情节层层迭起，最后的真相令人震撼：是人类亲手造出了Invaders，又亲自将银河系遗弃。还有人造奇景Seven Suns，伫立于宇宙的废墟，如Sunless Sea中在漫无边际的黑暗里发出夺目光彩的黎明机器，永恒不息地转动，在业已成为遗物的行星上投射缤纷的光芒。另，Diaspar的原型应当是取自霍华德的田园城市。
