不是太空歌劇，勝似太空歌劇。一開始的格局僅限於沙漠化的地球，結果誰料想到後麵會展開至整個銀河係乃至宇宙的彼端。情節層層迭起，最後的真相令人震撼：是人類親手造齣瞭Invaders，又親自將銀河係遺棄。還有人造奇景Seven Suns，佇立於宇宙的廢墟，如Sunless Sea中在漫無邊際的黑暗裏發齣奪目光彩的黎明機器，永恒不息地轉動，在業已成為遺物的行星上投射繽紛的光芒。另，Diaspar的原型應當是取自霍華德的田園城市。

考慮到是1955年寫的，給四星。對未來人類生存狀態的想象在當時算是很大的腦洞瞭。整體給我一種感覺，是什麼呢？就像是一部ST大電影的劇本，樂觀，玄妙，sleek，too convenient。純 • 黃金時代。現在讀起來，男主特彆沒有存在感，比阿瑟其他書的男主更沒有存在感。女性當然更瞭無痕跡（但是我乾嘛要要求這個）。10億年後人類還存在，以當前的心境，真是讀得絕望啊。
