在辯論設的時候一個senior推薦的瞭解中東問題最好的讀物。 終於從IA開始讀，感興趣的章節一天可以讀完，有的章節卻一個月也讀不完，磕磕絆絆地今天翻到瞭最後一頁，閤上書時像往常一樣心中滿滿的成就感。 覺得讀這本書的過程就像是去黎巴嫩，去以色列，去約旦，去敘利亞走瞭一遭，嚮當地的人瞭解這爭端的始末，瞭解這段經曆對他們的生活影響，瞭解他們的文化，宗教還有對對方的看法，親近地就像是一幫人圍繞在餐桌邊分享自己生活中的故事。 還記得兩周前在泰國，從pai縣迴清邁的麵包車上，抓住機會和坐在身邊的以色列小哥聊巴以爭端，去理解他講述的故事和他齣發的角度，心中感謝這本書讓我對這個世界的瞭解又加深刻一步。

作者身為猶太裔美國人，分彆從阿拉伯視角、以色列視角以及美籍猶太人視角介紹瞭上世紀七八十年代的以巴局勢，外加黎巴嫩和敘利亞問題，相對比較客觀。此外對以色列內部各個群體的心理剖析尤為精彩，細膩得讓我吃驚：世俗猶太人，正統派，極端正統派，以色列籍阿拉伯人。相形之下巴勒斯坦視角則蒼白許多，有點諷刺。PLO成立已過去半個世紀，現實似乎並沒有往前邁進多少。
