Jay Rubin is a professor of Japanese literature at Harvartn University.He is the author of Haruki Murakami and the Music of Words and he has also translated Murakami's Norwegian Wood and The Wind-up Bird Cbronicle.

重讀發現每個故事都留給我很深印象。拯救世界的青蛙君，他們拆主教的時候你為什麼沒有來。Nimit說"If you put your feelings into words they will turn into lies." 在一個完美的故事裏暫時取代你位置的人有一天一定會消失。

村上的after the quake裏六篇short story，兩篇發在紐約客，發在格蘭塔雜誌的Thailand不知道為什麼覺得很是特彆，但最喜歡的還是那篇發在GQ的青蛙君拯救東京。跑步時一直在想super frog saves tokyo這個短故事。之所以喜歡這隻青蛙，不僅因為他引用尼采和陀斯妥耶夫斯基，更因為它慈悲。當katagiri這個四十歲的loser說自己隻是eat，sleep，shit時，青蛙君說瞭讓人感動的話：整個東京隻有你纔能幫我，我就是要拯救像你這樣的人。這大緻是蛋與牆的主題瞭。即便覺得自己活得豬狗不如、瞭無生趣、一生也就這樣瞭，青蛙還是惦記著你，拼死也要拯救你，即便你從來不知道有這樣一隻青蛙拯救瞭世界。

真的是就怕貨比貨，同時在讀科塔薩爾，都是爵士愛好者，差距咋就這麼大呢，當然這本即使比村上自己的《盲女睡柳》那個集子也是差瞭一大截太多刻意經營的成分不過有幾篇的中心意象還是不錯的，比如搖鈴做愛(躲熊)，海邊燃起的篝火，月下起舞，夢見可以祛除心魔的蛇，最後兩篇彆人說好，我反而無感
