A comparable brekthrough occurred twenty years ago when Glashow, Salam, Weinberg, and others recognized a deep relation between the electromagnetic and the weak nucleat interaction and showed that they could be derived from a unified theory.
These lectures make an attempt to familiarize the student with the development of modern particle physics by providing a conceptually simple, yet rigorous introduction combined with hands-on experience through exercises and examples.
