When the case points toward South Africa, the orphaned Anne uses her life savings to buy a ticket on an African-bound liner and heads off toward much adventure and intrigue in this delightful 1924 novel. Emilia Fox infuses Anne's voice with a level-headed bravery and uses a mix of British accents and intonations to inform listeners of the social class and personalities of the rest of the large class. An excellent job, marred only by her tendency to make all men speak in a husky whisper. A.C.S.

我想当然地以为这部书是阿婆献给爱人马克斯的礼物，因为他和安妮父亲有着同样考古学者的身份，后来，才知道这是她的第四部侦探小说，缘起于一次航海旅行的经历，而那次的陪伴者是她的前夫。 褐衣男子令许多包括我在内的女性读者迷恋，因为阿婆描述的是一个富有浪漫、传奇和冒险...
