杜魯門·卡波蒂（Truman Capote）一九二四年九月三十日生於美國新奧爾良。一九四八年第一部長篇小說《彆的聲音，彆的房間》的齣版為他贏得國際聲譽，此後的創作使他成為戰後美國文壇最為著名的作傢之一。他兩度榮獲歐·亨利短篇小說奬，是美國藝術與文學院院士。卡波蒂的其他重要作品包括小說《草竪琴》、《蒂凡尼的早餐》以及“非虛構小說”《冷血》。一九八四年八月二十五日病逝於洛杉磯。
